EASTERN EXPOSURE
Recently, we had to travel to the interiors of Sabah for Machinery Valuation.
It was THE most arduous assignment we had ever taken on.
We set off early in the morning about 8 am and only managed to return to our hotel at 10 pm. The long hours is one thing but the journey itself was torturous!
Our site is located approximately 30km from the nearest town called Telupid. Telupid is about 200km north of Kota Kinabalu where we stayed. The journey from KK to Telupid took us 4 hours! as we were only travelling about 50-60/hour on the hilly and treacherous mountain road. Then, from Telupid to the site, it took us another 1.5 hours as the only access is via narrow and bumpy logging tracks.

When we reached the site, we inspected the machineries as quickly as we could because the sky was getting gloomy and about to rain soon. If it rains and the streams and rivers that we had to traverse to get to the site fills up, we may have to camp a night at the site. A scary and horrible thought!!!
We completed our inspections in less than half an hour and got the hell out of there. Thankfully, the rain came right after we crossed the river and returned to civilisation. But then the rain hampered our journey back to KK as road visibility is only about 20 feet forward! Coupled with the mountain mist, our drive back was even longer and dreadful.
The only consolation is the comfort of our hotel rooms. I hit the sack the moment I returned to my room.
